Times tables...

Do they send a shiver down your spine?! 😱

Do you remember learning them at school but can't find where they are locked inside your brain now?! 🤯

Love them or hate them, times tables are essential for maths calculation skills. If the times tables are nailed down, it makes solving calculations much quicker. This is particularly important for the worded problems in the 11+ test where speed is of the essence.

It's a good idea for your child to practice times tables every day (I know, groan...🥱 !) and there are lots of fun apps you can use to keep them engaged. I like 'Squeebles' or 'Hit the Button'. They might be using Times Tables Rockstar at school and can use the practice at home. I ask my children nicely* to do their tables daily and it has really made a huge difference.

The key thing here is to continue practising times tables even after your child thinks they know them all...as the saying goes...'use it or lose it'!
